I wish we had a tag that said, “doodles, amirite?”

@illyricus Not a groomer but a pet store cashier- this woman had a micro aussiebernedoodle (🤮) and swore the little guy wouldn't get over 15lbs and that he was already pretty much at his adult size. He was 10lbs at 10 weeks old.

@walkinthewoods Whenever I see a "toy aussie" I make sure to innocently ask "aww what's your pom mixed with?" People get very pressed hehe.
Small ETA, I own a German Shepherd-passing mix (89%) and it took about 10 people whose first question was "what's he mixed with?" Before I went and got the Embark test done. Half of me is being spiteful (the audacity of them being so ignorant) and the other half just wants them to seek out that information for themselves and start educating themselves on bad breeding practices.

@illyricus Reminds me of all the people in my oodle Facebook group I’m in that talk about their “toy cavoodles”. Meanwhile, the dogs are 8kg-12kg and most definitely taller than a toy poodle. But they insist. Completely clueless (I say this as an oodle owner!).

@illyricus Ran into a guy that actually got outraged by the word “mutt” being applied to his “purebred labradoodle.” He thought it was an actual slur, compared it to the n-word. I was like dude your dog is half poodle half lab. It is not PURE anything, that’s not a slight against your dog, it’s just a fact. He accused me of being elitist and snobby. I have a maltipoo lol. It’s hard to be elitist about dogs when your dog is a secondhand-from-Craigslist mutt whose breed mix name ends in poo.

@illyricus I rescued mine and tell everyone they’re “mutts from a shelter.” I get them groomed every 6 weeks (i keep them short!) and say I want the golden one to look like a retriever mix and the black and gray one to look like a spaniel mix. 😆

I think in their previous lifetimes, the golden one was a golden doodle and the black and gray one was an aussie doodle.

I just cannot associate or promote it in any way. 🫠

@cmotorsportsministries At least she's a rescue! People do often think that rescues know more about the dogs than they do... I'm not sure I can fully blame her for just trusting the shelter, lol. But you would think she'd do some research before adopting. Although if they didn't know the breeds for sure, research wouldn't necessarily help....
