I’m watching my stepmom’s dog (Australian Shepherd with more than 20 kg / 40 lbs) rn. I went grocery shopping about two hours ago and just returned. I had left an empty package of those chocolate chip cookies on the table in the living room. He never took anything from there before. The packaging still had some of the chocolate pieces left (maybe 5 - 10). When I came home, the packaging was on the floor and completely empty. Like it never had any cookies inside. Is that amount of chocolate dangerous already?
@solarkat For a 40lb dog around 6 ounces of chocolate is poisonous. I don’t know how much chocolate is in those cookies, but honestly, it’s best to let your stepmom know and get that dog to a vet.
@solarkat Okay, that’s good. Still, keep an eye on them and if they start spasming, having seizures or look really restless and uncomfortable go to the vet. Be prepared for a upset stomach at the very least.
