How long do you wait before a c section?

I’m getting very mixed reviews on this subject Iv heard after 63 days you need a c section Iv heard they can go up to 70 days and have them naturally. My girl is 66 days tomorrow but has showed no signs of coming into labor had a progesterone test done yesterday and they said she should be coming into labor anytime but has yet to come her temp has stayed right at 100ish I think i’m just going to take her in and get the c section done tomorrow to be safe I just really didn’t want to have her go through surgery

@hb211 Artificial insemination she was at a 19 on the progesterone test a little later than the vet wanted but we made due

@manofmacedonia OK, so you're counting from I guess the day before she tested at 19? What breed? And is the vet you're seeing now a repro vet?

@hb211 She is a standard American bully weighs 80lbs had X-rays done she has two pups in there and yes Iv counted from the day she was inseminated and yes the vet is a reproductive vet

@manofmacedonia If she was at 19 (I'm assuming n/mol L) then more likely she ovulated the day before. Did the vet check puppy heart rates and gut motility at the visit today? Sometimes with a small litter, labour just won't begin naturally, did they discuss that with you? Finally, if they're a repro vet, is there a reason you're not confident in their recommendation?

@hb211 I’m taking her in for a c section this morning so fingers crossed everything is good she’s shown no signs of complications just taking longer than usual

@manofmacedonia It just seems really unusual that they wouldn't check the pups heart rates at 66 days. Can you feel the pups moving still?

@hb211 Didn’t do any other testing other than a progesterone test to see how soon she would be coming into labor and they said soon then they asked if I wasn’t to do a c section and I said I wanted to try it naturally ( I do t want surgery unless it has to happen ) and they said ok that’s fine and that’s where the conversation stopped so I don’t feel like they were recommending it more asking if I wanted too

@manofmacedonia What does the vet say? They can examine her, that is who would have the best answer I think.

@home4good They vet asked if I wanted to do c section or natural I said natural she said ok and didn’t make it seem like a c section had to be done
