I have a one year old lab mix that I adopted when he was 12 weeks old. When I adopted up until now I worked remotely so usually he’s only been alone for 4-5 hours here and there. I don’t think he has bad separation anxiety. He does cry when I leave the house but calms down after 10 minutes or so.
Well I got a new job that’s 3-4 days a week in office but I feel guilty about leaving my dog for that long, that often. Usually I head out around 8am and return about 6:30-7pm. I hired a dog walker to take him on a walk for 30 minutes in the middle of the day. I also take him for a walk before work 6:30am-7:30am and after 7-7:45pm.
He doesn’t have any negative behaviors other than being super hyper and demanding my attention after work until bed, which is understandable. But I can’t stop feeling guilty for him being alone this much but also not sure what else I can do.
