We have 2 female dogs and they fought

L is a small 8yo dog, we have her since she was 1. V is 3yo, twice L’s size and weight. They have fought a few times before but we broke them off instantly. For some time this didn’t happen until today and L got lightly hurt. Since we have V, L has always been a bit afraid and limits herself...

Our 2 y/o corgi humps air/ejaculates when given food

This only happened a couple times until recently. Now it's been happening maybe a couple of times per week and am getting a little worried. I have read that it could be over arousal, and I think that makes sense because usually he gets very excited when he gets fed. If that's the case, any...

Am I walking my dog too much?

A lot of my neighbors complain, or mention, that I am always walking my dog. Bowser is a 9 pounds mutt and currently due to weather, short days, he gets 3 20 minute walks on a weekday, and 2 1 hour walks in the park and 2 20 minute walks at home. When the weather gets nicer, I hope to make the...

my dog has started laying down on walks when we come across other leashed dogs… why?

Can anyone explain why he’s doing this? For context, he’s always been pretty bad on the leash. I adopted him at 3 years old almost two months ago and we’ve made some progress. After a few weeks together he became possessive of me and reactive to other dogs and growls / barks / lunges at other...

In the wiki it states that prong collars, e collars, and chokes can cause intimidation. Is a slip lead a “choke”?

I’ve always trained with a loose leash slip lead, effectively, but I don’t want to be in a position of intimidation. I’d rather be in a more positive training position. Advice/clarification is welcomed. TIA

Balding spot on snout of dog then slight regrowth of hairs - can hyperthyroidism cause this?

My golden retriever has been having gradual hair loss on his snout area since late September (26th of Sept) which I have only realized yesterday upon looking at various pictures. There is no redness, no itching, no smell - just skin and a lack of hair. He does not touch it, feel bothered by it...

Has anyone else’s dog experienced excessive thirst from Z/D prescription diet?

My 14yo female lab mix recently went on Hill’s Prescription z/d dry food for chronic GI. It worked awesome to treat GI symptoms. However, her thirst drastically increased to a scary degree (drinking all water in bowl at once, drinking from the toilet) as did her incontinence in her seep. Our vet...

    German Shepherd Breeding Questions

I’ve got two beautiful German Shepherds (GSD) and they’ve locked 5 times, in 5 days, from day 9 of her heat to day 14. The tie lasted 20-30 minutes each time and everything went well, dogs were calm (besides the females crying bc it’s her first time) and healthy. My male has never been bred as...

    Toe removal

My dog (9 y/o 95lb GSD/Malamute cross) has interdigital cysts, and one on the 4th digit has gradually developed into a quarter-sized tumor. Been to two different dermatologists that say toe removal is the best option. Everything I have read about toe removal of dogs her size says complications...

DIY frozen Kong/lick mat recipes for food intolerant dog?

Hi friends! My 42lb, 2-year-old shepherd mix is currently on Hill’s Prescription z/d after experiencing upset tummy on Hill’s science chicken and brown rice and prescription i/d. She’s doing well on z/d but our vet said no dog treats or other food for about 8-10 weeks - veggies and some fruits...
