My dog bit me and I’m not sure if I should take him to the vet

I have a 4 year old pomeranian/shih tzu mix that is super sweet and friendly, however a little anxious and nervous sometimes since he was a pandemic puppy, but while we were on our walk before bedtime he picked something up outside and when i tried to get him to drop it and he wouldn’t, i tried to take it from him and he became very aggressive and bit me and broke the skin on my fingers. He has never acted like this to anyone, he always lets me take toys from him to play and is not food aggressive and he has never ever bitten anyone. I’m worried he is sick or hurt but I wanted to get opinions because i’m concerned. He was acting normal all day. Should I call the vet or take him and see if he’s okay?

@andrewtlfc Your dog was resource guarding something of value to him that he may never have had before. Please make sure your tetanus shot is up to date. If you are unsure and think he may be in pain by all means have a vet check done. You need to work on an out command as well as leave it.

@andrewtlfc Take care of yourself first. Go see a doctor. Dog bites can be nasty.

If your dog has had his shots it will be fine.
