Just discovered Australian retrievers, but can’t find much in my area

I just discovered the Australian retriever breed and instantly fell in love, unfortunately I can’t find any in my area. Does anyone know anywhere I would be able to find a breeder?

@sspx_teen 1.) You didn't say where your area is.
2.) Australian retriever isn't a breed, it's a cross between two breeds making it a mutt. 99% of people breeding these dogs will be backyard breeders or puppy mills. What makes you want this cross instead of a golden retriever or an Australian shepherd?

@andrew742 I don't even know why it got labeled as a retriever It's a herding breed mixed with a gun dog breed... does not make it designed for retrieving.

@andrew742 I get that. Just most of the time, names are descriptors for the breeds' job (shepherd, terrier, lurcher, retriever, cattle dog, spaniels, etc) so I always cringe at the combined names.

@sspx_teen You are looking for a mix of two breeds with competing drives, temperments and personalities.

The only ethical place to find a mixed breed for companionship is a non profit shelter or rescue.

Look for Golden or Australian Shepherd mixes on petfinder.com, Rescue-me.org and pettango.com

It is unethical to create these dogs.

@sspx_teen My Aussie retriever is the sweetest girl ever. Potty trained by 2 1/2 months, learns commands in less than a few hours. Great genetics all around, we got ours in northern British Columbia.

I should also add she looks like an Aussie with all the personality of a golden which is what we wanted
