Cane Corso X Doberman Pinscher mix: Canis Panther

@gracenotworks Are you looking for a mix or one of the Canis Panther bred dogs? Quick search doesn't show Cane Corso in the breed. I didn't see if they have a breed club or anything so not sure if they have ever tried to get into the AKC registry. It sounds like strong protection animal, I...

    Curious

@kowon As stated, any dog can get Star Puppy, CGC, and I believe Farm Dog certificates. To get CGC as title your dog has to be registered in AKC, that has its requirements.

Interested in co-ownership in the future

@shawnmari Yes. Spend time at shows and see if you can help anyone. Hold dogs at ringside or just walking in and out.

    Curious

@kowon A side note on this, you also have to be on the registration as an owner to have it as an official title. They kicked it back to me on my 12 yo aussie. (Oh, I think they kept the 20 dollars or what ever it was). I need to double check with his breeder about putting me on as an owner but...

    Building a breed from scratch

@glenninindy The basics of what you are saying does sound like some of what has to happen for a breed to be recognized by a registry (at least the AKC, not sure about FCI or others actually) now days. Keep in mind that most of the 'breeds' you see and think of as examples were just created by...

Advice on Newfoundland breeding, and general ethics

@jessicacharlie Best advice I could give to start is to find a breeder (of any breed) that would mentor you and also to find someone showing dogs (again any breed, but large fluffy haired breed best) in conformation that would show what is involved. Join local dog clubs, breed specific and/or...

Is it normal for a prospective pup purchaser to ask to speak to the breeders vet?

@sqs1 I would probably investigate other vets based on what you are saying yours has said. But that is just me. I would not want to be a breeder relying on this vet.

    Advice needed w/ co-owner

@mingyanwong Question, what is meant by 'stud credits'? This isn't a term I have heard that I know of, is this something outside the US? On your question, around me I would need a good lawyer. Breaking a contract because you have suspicions and thinking there is shady stuff would bring a...

    Registered AKC Golden (M)

@ekim It is not often a stud dog initiates a breeding contract with someone, normally it is the females looking for a stud dog. They have the major expenses and time involved in having a liter. Your best chance is probably a local Facebook or similar type meetups with other golden pet owners.

    Need advice! Accidental breeding

@ggp80 You can post on Facebook that you have puppies and to message you for information. Post pictures of them. Make sure you do NOT say they are for sale or price, just if interested in them to message you. Check with your vet if they know anyone that might be interested in a puppy, not...

Is it normal for a prospective pup purchaser to ask to speak to the breeders vet?

@jtanurdjaja I am not sure what you are hoping to learn from the breeders vet, I would be very surprised if that vet was willing to talk to you about their breeding practices. Privacy laws would limit what most businesses or individuals would say. Breeders will get puppy buyers vet, but the...

    Question for breeders

@beaub Rough guess would be to check in with them when the puppies would be about 2 weeks old, just a query of how are things going check and that you are still interested in a possible puppy. Depending on the breeder and why they are breeding it is possible they might pick a puppy for you at 3...

    Ticks won’t f@&$ off

@gypsysfriend Most flea and tick treatment do not stop the ticks from biting your dog, but it does cause them to die after biting the dog. In some areas fleas and ticks have grown some immunity to some treatments, so see if your vet would recommend a different brand in your area. Make sure you...

    Stud dog first time

@aaron112 In addition to the tests for the specific breed at the OFA and/or parent breed club I would also have the sperm motility checked to make sure it is even worth trying.

Is it normal for a prospective pup purchaser to ask to speak to the breeders vet?

@wakalix While some breeders do microchip the puppies before they leave I have also found some vets here in the US that do not want to microchip until much later. I had one and liter mate had different one that were talking about waiting until 6 months I think before chipping. This is in the US...

Starting with a non conforming dog

@charliehcf There are actually two organizations for Aussies in the US. ASCA is an independent breed club that is NOT part of the AKC. USASA is United States Australian Shepherd Association, which is the AKC parent club. And then there is the Miniature American Shepard that is the newest to the...

    Improper Vaccine Administration

    Ethical Breeding

@mrjobosco The responses given so far seem to be good for preservation breeding. Most of the people that post/respond in this group only support preservation breeding of show dogs.

Titling an older male? How much? Wise to consider breeding with him or not?

@rockhopper72 The order of things I would do for this is: talk to the breeder, see what their advice and support is have health tests done have collected start showing see what happens If the dog doesn't pass the health tests there isn't any reason to do anything else, and since they are...
