In answer to your questions:
He was on so many drugs (like 6 a day) that he was drooling everywhere, super spaced out and completely listless. His appetite was completely gone so he had more drugs to make him hungry. My guess is that the balance was not right because I do believe that behavioural meds have a place. I just don't want to compromise his quality of life is all and I'd like to exhaust all options before I dose him.
Definitely see your point about recognising his limits. To clarify, he has never bitten a child and is fine with them at a distance or even near him in a public space. I don't know why but will definitely look into behavioural meds as an alternative.
