PLEASE help my family find a dog!

@afyky Bichon frise, shih tzu, cavalier king charles spaniel, toy poodle sounds like the dog for you. Small, only needs a little walk, non-shedding and very people orientated. Cavoodles would also be worth looking into if you don't mind a fancy mix.

Someone above recommended cocker spaniels... they're fantastic dogs but require A LOT of exercise, particularly while young. Don't underestimate them just because they have little legs. If you don't mind the high energy, then they are the perfect family dog.

Common health issues with small dogs are:
1) dental disease
2) heart problems

Dental disease is completely preventable, though, and heart stuff can be partly avoided by going through a reputable breeder.

Poodles and spaniels can also be prone to ear issues and most poodle crosses have ear problems too.

All breeds of dogs will have some known health issues, but heart and teeth are fairly manageable in the grand scheme of things.

If you don't mind going a little bigger, I'd recommend a greyhound as they're fairly low maintenance with short fur. That said, they do still shed.

@juanaatorres Love cavaliers! But unfortunately they are prone to some very serious health issues and OP stresses wanting a healthy breed.

Also this sub hasn’t found any ethical doodle breeders. But getting one from a rescue could work!
