I’m so sick of entitled customers (rant)

I’ve been a groomer for about a decade now, and a manager at a Corp salon for 4 years. Ever since Covid ppl have just lost their damn minds! I’ve never dealt with such rudeness, entitlement, condescension. Just now I had a customer that made a same day appt, she called this morning and I squeezed her in at TWO. Was doing her a favor bc I didn’t really have the time but I’m a pushover. So she showed up at NOON and said they came a long way and they had stuff to do. I literally don’t have a kennel for this dog, they are all full. WHICH IS WHY I CHOSE TWO O’CLOCK. I told her that a) he’d be banished to the back and tethered to the wall if we took him now and that b) all the groomers are busy and he wouldn’t even be worked on until 2. She didn’t care. Wanted to leave him anyways. So now I’m stuck with a poor hairy baby who will be here an unnecessarily long time bc his mom is an asshole.

Like, do ppl like that make a dr appt and then just show up whenever they want? I don’t understand why some ppl just don’t understand appts. Or they do but they don’t give a shit. I’m charging her a kenneling fee.

@217 When I worked at corporate and people would pull this or try to leave their dogs for more than 5 hours… we would charge them the “overnight charge” and say it was for daycare.

@217 You are absolutely correct. People make doctor appointments and show up whenever they want and then yell at you because they’ve been waiting “over an hour” for their appointment, even though it’s 10:00 and their appointment isn’t until 10:45 but they decided to show up at 9:30. But obviously it’s your fault sigh oh and be prepared to get yelled at again when it’s 11:00 and they’re waiting for the doctor in the exam room even though they have to pick up their child at 11:15.

@christiananarchist I had one lady turn up half an hour late for an appointment, she was booked in for the first appointment for the day so it was even more annoying because it meant that one groomer was waiting around for half an hour without any dog to groom and getting behind for the rest of the day. When we said she was late she had the AUDACITY to say that we "aren't rocket scientists or anything" as if our time doesn't matter and we were not important enough to come on time for appointments. She usually booked her next appointment but for whatever reason she forgot that day so when she rang up to book in we told her we were very sorry but we didn't have anything for 3 months. Fucking mole.

@worshiplady3 Worked for corporate, private and am currently doing my own venture, and let me tell ya… assholes are everywhere.

I had a new client come in just yesterday, ask for her dog “who we always keep long” to go “as short as possible”, showed her my comb guards and let her pick (she went with the 7) but due to how thin her dogs hair was I decided on a 5 (without letting her know) and when she picked him up… she lost her mind about how…

A. Her dog’s hair was TOOOOO SHORT and “you must have went shorter than I told you!!”

B. And my favorite, first time ever for me… “YOU MADE MY DOG FAT! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU! ILL PAY, but I’m NOT tipping you shit! You should rethink your “career”! I am never bringing my dog back again!”.

@217 I just got screamed at for 15mins and then after they left, they texted me and said I was a nasty bitch. Bc I didn’t trim a dogs ears short enough. I literally just stood there while they screamed at me. Ppl are FUCKED.
