Help w/thinners

I use a 6.5” Geib Gator thinner, and it feels a bit “much” for home grooming my Havanese’s facial furnishings. I am considering adding a smaller thinner, like the 4.5” Kenchii Five Star, for the face. Would the shorter shear offer more control?

@sdb Well, I bought a cute little 4 inch thinner once and it was the most useless shear I've ever owned, it was like a toy.

I think the one you have should be sufficient and you just need practice.

@sdb Control will mostly come from practice and proper form. I would look at training videos and try hard to match their hand position.

@sdb No, smaller shears are harder to control. Stability exercises and learning techniques are your friend. You need a set of moves that you do every time like a recipe and practice. Not new tools.
