We got a 6 month old German Shepherd from a breeder. He’s been with us over a year now. Had tick fever when we got him and started treating him for it. 2 weeks ago he started dragging his hind legs and within 2 days of that all mobility ceased. He isn’t paralysed because he still has sensation everywhere but is completely bed ridden. MRI, X RAYS, cerebral spinal fluid testing have all come back clear. No distemper or meningitis. But he is in a lot of pain when we try to move him. Doctors are treating him with a low dose of steroids for the inflammation and pain. We have started accupuncture and will start physio soon once his pain subsides. He cries out constantly. It’s very sad to see him like this. He’s so young and was such a happy dog. We’re hoping the pain subsides and we can start hydro therapy too. Hurts to see him bed ridden. This is no life for a young dog.
