Getting a puppy

So I already have an eight-year-old (F) GSD and I’m looking to get another German Shepherd puppy. My current dog (Leia) is great with people, but hasn’t spent a lot of time around other dogs since our rat terrier passed away a couple years ago. Does it matter if I get a male or a female puppy? I’m planning on getting a dog that’s less than 6 months old from a rescue.

@texasmustang I have a male and a female. Freya did great with benji from the beginning but we also brought her with us to meet benji before we decided to buy him to make sure they’d get along.

Gus is 2yrs old and he adores his new puppy Patty. He will be there to get a treat and spit it out for her. Unless it’s like a piece of chicken

@texasmustang Know your dog. My 8 yo female hates puppies. I'd definitely get a male.

@texasmustang I just tried this with my 4 year old and a GSD/Belgian that was about 9 months old... It went absolutely horrible, my dog has grown up around other dogs and loves the neighbors dog. Kinda crushed me when I realized we were going to be a one dog house. His older "brother" died in January and he's been out of sorts since.
