From Best Friends to Enemies

We have three dogs: A (13M Shepard mix, neutered, very calm and not aggressive), O (2M heeler/lab mix, neutered, playful. We had him since he was a pup and self-trained), and E (8mo F border collie/lab/Majorca shepherd, entact and had since pup). Up until E had her heat a few weeks ago, E and O got along great. They played a lot, and O basically submitted to her…and we allowed it. What’s the worst that could happen? She started taking the bed at night (O’s place, who would then sleep under the bed) and would finish his dinner. This started becoming a problem, so we would feed O in the closed bedroom.

E has been an independent lady since the day we brought her home and she is quite verbal, and as of late has been going from 0 to 100 is seconds.
Since she has finished her heat, she has gotten very resource aggressive. It could be fallen bits of food, protecting her “boyfriend” neighbor dog, or if O shows any inking of alpha. At first, O didn’t fight back, but now he does and it’s a problem. She’s only fought O- never A, never a stranger dog or a person. They are both incredibly sweet dogs and we’d like to keep our family together. Since the most recent fight, we started crating her at night, utilizing baby gates so they are never freely in the same room, and continuing to feed separately. We also got a muzzle, which helped O from getting harmed, but not E (since O fights back and they hurt one another). At this point, they’ve had enough “history” that even the sight of O will have her growling and jumping toward O.

I reached out to a trainer to assist, so waiting to hear back. Anyone have any additional suggestions as we navigate this teenager with resource aggression?

@izzy1728 .. pecking order is being restructured

,, so

you decide the pecking order and enforce it with corrections (escalate from none painful to more painful)

✔️thx
