@looseleeroy Mine was also really stubborn and still can be but a lot of it for me was patience and consistency in training.
I also rely heavily on mental stimulation games even when doing physical games (making him sit and wait while I walk far away with his ball before throwing it)
And we also had to work REALLY hard on crate training bc it’s how I trained him to have an off switch. I think this is super important so he doesn’t drive me absolutely insane during the winter.
After really working with him and realizing he was a whole different type of smart, we have a bond like no other.
I have a border collie who is eager to please and we have a bond as well but she wants to please everyone, whereas my cattle dog only wants to work with me! Once you get there it’s so special.
