My dog is small (30lbs) but dominant and the puppy is now large (55lbs) 11 months old and seems to be dominant also she is a lab x boxer. My dog seems to be doing normal dominant adult dog things with the puppy trying to calm and hold her down ( she seems to be firm but gentle) but recently the pup has attacked my dog twice. My boyfriend seems unwilling to try to get on the same page as me/ won't take anyone's advice/ won't educate himself about training. I'm trying but it's difficult without his support since it's his dog. I'm going to stay at my place until he gets it but I need advice. The two got along but played a little rough since we got the puppy at 6 weeks. The pup also isn't getting much exercise as needed I'm sure that's contributing to the problem and hoping it's the whole but I don't know what to do. Everyone has been telling my bf since he got her that he needs to run her and he won't do it.

@amximuspitta5158 Not playing my dog has punctures all over her head. They used to rough play all the time we put a stop to it after the first time she bit my dog a few weeks ago but she only got one bite in and They seemed to act fine afterwards. I don't want to chance anything after this time.

@julew If his dog was legitimately trying to kill your dog I would recommend a behaviorist to get the dog evaluated. Very few dogs attack without reason. He needs to find out if this dog is a serious danger.

If it was just rough play, you boyfriend needs to work on training more often and really running that dog around. A tired dog is a well behaved dog.

@amximuspitta5158 Yeah I'm going to tell him tonight to get his neighbor to run it with him he's good with dogs and always tells us to run her. Bf asked what was next with the dogs and I said we need to bring them to a professional trainer. There's one next door to my mom's that seems to specialise in socializing difficult dogs that's highly recommended in the area but it's a 40min drive. Funds are low and he hasn't gotten her spayed yet so I hoping he can do that soon at a low cost clinic too to see if it helps. She has so much potential but she's getting to be too much for me to handle when she needs to release her energy.
