Our 7 year old lab was diagnosed with pneumonia about 4 weeks ago (thru x ray) after she had been having some coughing fits. She got so bad we had her go to the emergency vet overnight, but she improved with antibiotics (we think) and was discharged the next day. Back at our usual vet, they gave her the same meds the emergency vet did and has been going on the course for about 4 weeks now. We had to re up the meds twice already and have another appt this Monday.
Problem is, she seems to be improving, but still has a bad cough. Today her coughs got more productive than normal. She is eating and drinking as usual and still wants to play all the time (she’s a lab). I am worried that her lungs aren’t properly removing the infection though. We only have meds left for a few days, but a vet visit in between where they’re gonna do another x ray.
Wondering if anyone has any advice. She’s in good spirits but her cough keeps reappearing it seems, even after it seemingly get better for a few days
