Help! When would my dog give birth ?

@amyser Just like with people, due dates are counted from ovulation (not mating). You should have been doing progesterone testing leading up to hosting the male, to determine the due date.

Wanting to potentially breed my male dog

@anna63 r/dogs has a guide to finding a responsible breeder here, which may be helpful. If you're on facebook, Pet Vet Corner is a group that only allows veterinarians to comment. They also put together a post on responsible breeding (it's a private group so you need to first join the group in...

Wanting to potentially breed my male dog

@anna63 The short answer is no, you should not breed your mixed breed dog who you don't know the pedigree for and who has not proven themselves (titled in a dog sport etc). If you do decide to pursue breeding, these are the recommended health tests for Pomeranians and these are the recommended...

Advice on Newfoundland breeding, and general ethics

@jessicacharlie The other one is the Continental Kennel Club - kind of a knock off AKC.

    Accidental mating help

@usherwife Were you doing progesterone testing and working with a reproductive vet? If so, they may be able to tell you the likelihood of pregnancy from either tie.

    I HATE FIREWORKS

@fmp6954 Same - we did fine last year and do fine with the smaller ones set off in our neighborhood, but she was pretty freaked out about the big show this year. I set a calendar reminder to get drugs from the vet at the beginning of June next year.

Advice on Newfoundland breeding, and general ethics

@jessicacharlie The Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada would be a good resource for you - https://www.newfoundlanddogclub.ca/index.html I would especially suggest reading the Breeder Code of Ethics (pdf is linked here: https://www.newfoundlanddogclub.ca/member-forms--resources.html), as that...

    Ethical Breeding

@mrjobosco As someone who bought a dog from an ethical breeder, I agree with the above comments about health testing, breeding to a standard, titling the parents, and caring for the puppies (appropriate early socialization, appropriate placements, always being willing to take any puppy back for...

Can someone just purchase two pure bred dogs (of the same breed) and mate them together and sell their puppies as pure breds for pure bred prices?

@613jono Or if the breeder sold the dog with limited registration, any puppies produced wouldn't be able to be registered. They could still be sold, obviously, but wouldn't come with papers.

    Help

@old_orthodoxyusa If your dog is not in heat and has never been in heat, there is no risk of puppies - she's not fertile yet. It sounds like that's what you're concerned about holding them accountable for?

@adonai1 I wanted the variable for around her face and for future puppies, but I expect I will almost always use it maxed out ha.

Want to buy a K-9 dryer...but not sure which one!

@adonai1 I just pulled the trigger on the K9-III variable and I'm very excited. It's replacing a flying pig for us, too. I have an eighteen month old samoyed and definitely feeling the need for a more powerful dryer than the flying pig.
