My little rescue Yorkie has been peeing inside frequently after being spayed while in heat. Groomer today said it smells like ammonia. Is this normal?

@wandafaith Does not sound normal at all. Something went wrong during the procedure. I pray you get answers soon.

I feel like I’ve ruined my dogs life

@hobblehonker Me, i never give my dogs scraps, i may cook a hamburger patty or something else, nothing large, for I cannot feed a dog to be dependent on human food.

    I am done

@sleeptastic It is like the cutting the tails on some breeds. I love seeing the tails. I had a Boston Terrier mix who had her tail, for that tail lets me know if my baby sensed danger, or happy, or sad.

Where did your newly spayed dogs poop/pee during post op

@poindexterpaul Do as the vet said, for there are certain germs that can infect her wound from the outside. Just wait the five days and then let her in the yard.

Creative ways to administer pills other than pill pockets?

@hungphatads123 Have you tried a bit of cheese? It works like a charm and no need to use a whole slice.

My vet wants to charge $700 to get my puppy neutered, is that normal?

@tarper You can find a vet in your area that would do it on the cheaper side. County animal hospitals will do it cheaper. Good luck. That is an excessive amount from a shelter.

Took dog to vet for frequent urination and found a bunch of health problems

@pugnodei Murmur is quite common in older dogs and there is not much that can be done. Ask the vet questions, for that is their job to inform the pet parent. Never be afraid to ask questions on your fur baby's conditions.

Middle aged dog with separation anxiety, but we’re going on vacation

@mickey3375 they can board at the vet if the vet does boarding. Leaving him at home alone, not a good idea. Perhaps they have a neighbor who could stay with him during their time away, so he is home and comfortable.

Middle aged dog with separation anxiety, but we’re going on vacation

@deenephew You never leave an elder dog home alone for a week or more. The parents need to find a neighbor who could stay with the dog while they are gone. Cheaper and easier on the dog.

I think the doodle bubble has burst

@thejonesboysofnc Many rescues are rushed out the door in America and other countries to empty the cages for new ones, and they all do not have the money to invest in a behavioralist or several, to work with the animals that have behavior issues. I got my two from a rescue that has several...

    R+ Vs. Balanced training

@ramfel Yeah for PTS is not the answer to behavior problems with the owners who are on the quick fix lane. Instead of loving and caring, they want the perfect, well-behaved dog. Take hard work, training, love and understanding to get that kind of dog.

    Blood in stool

@oursimpleife When you go back to get your dog, get the report from the vet and look things up on PetMd. A great source for information.

My Dog Is Really Bad w/ Boyfriends 7yo Son. HELP!

@katlyngiberson If the boy is nervous, your dog is sensing the fear and reacting to it. A trainer can help in this situation. Never punish a dog for reacting to someone's fear. for the dog can smell it. Also need to work with the boy on his fear of dogs. Forcing them to like each other only...

Trust my vet or go with my gut? Separation anxiety and medications

@missjovita If you feel the meds are not working, time to talk to the vet to try another approach. The anxiety is from being in a new home and it takes time to get used to a new place at her age of 10. Good luck and hope things get worked out.

    R+ Vs. Balanced training

@eve_marie Getting the dog altered does not magically have a well-behaved dog. That is wrong way for them to think. As long as they are willing to work with the dog and train correctly, fixing them does nothing but prevent unwanted litters. Everyone has a choice for their dog. And you are wrong...

    Dire Need of Help

@desertrose81 When there is sometimes the slightest change, they can revert and have to retrain. But there might be something about the dog park. You might want to watch her closely when you both are there. Something has scared her. Good luck at trying to figure out what has happened.

Continuously getting hives pit bull mix

@virtualhope You need to change the food, for they can have food allergies and that cause hives. Please change the food. This may be the way to help your fur baby get over the breakout of hives. I am sure your vet suggested a food for you baby to eat. Listen to the vet.

    Neutering/spaying

@refei YES, IT IS A SPAY, IF YOU DID NOT KNOW. NO NEED TO BE A SMARTY PANTS. HAVE A NICE DAY AND BE SURE TO USE A DICTIONARY TO LOOK UP SPAY AND NEUTURE. BYE.

    Neutering/spaying

@refei Is your vet wanting business from a dog that is making more puppies that people cannot care for? Apparently. Change vet for that one needs help. You get your male dog fixed for there are enough puppies in the world looking for homes.

Dry flaky skin and hair loss

@glassful_of_violets What breed is she mixed with? How often do you bath her? And what do you use when you do bath her. Oatmeal dog soap can help and doing it once a week. I use hertz oatmeal shampoo for my baby. She is a Doxie/Lab mix and as a Doxie she has some bald spots that nothing will...
