    How to say I’m done

For a number of reasons I made the decision in the first week of this year to leave the grooming industry and I have zero intention of ever returning. I originally decided that I would make an exception for the one little dog I have been grooming out of its home every month for about 8 years...

Hypermobile joints mean I can't be on my feet for more than 3 hrs - would a job dog grooming still be possible?

@theberlintall Corporate salons are 100% not an option for you. I’ve now worked at three different big box businesses. Sitting down is considered a “privilege” and unprofessional (masked as a safety issue). So much so getting reasonable accommodated with a stern doctors note is like pulling...

Beyond mad: Client lies to us about his dog’s health, dog almost dies

@cathya Yep. I had a 15yr twice a year toy dog on my books a while ago. Notes continually said 10/7/5 due to matting. In walks excuse me is carried a matted, skin and bones, permanently arched back, atrophied legs, close to falling over while standing still dog. I took the dog, explaining based...

Beyond mad: Client lies to us about his dog’s health, dog almost dies

@cathya Seriously, it’s because “it’s just a dog” until any situation arises involving money, the dog being injured in any way, an emergency trip to a vet, or the client not getting exactly what they want. I very clearly articulate “Does Fluffy have any health issues such as allergies...

    oMg SHE’S so uGLy!! [rant]

@ryann22 That is not necessarily true. I groomed a doodle that would literally pout toddler style if she had to be taken shorter that 5/8th. I once jokingly said “Alright, Miss Coco. Let’s shave you down!” and I swear to the grooming gods she death glared me. She is usually apathetic to the...

[rant] You know who you are

Dear pet parents who consistently arrive late for your appointments. You are just the absolute worst. Just the f****** worst. And you should know absolutely none of the groomers in your chosen salon look forward to you coming in. And sometimes your very existence can completely ruin our day...

    Trouble filling up schedules.

@hunter_collins That is an excellent idea but unfortunately and imo understandably the business owner is very very against discounting anything.

    Trouble filling up schedules.

I groomed corporate for almost 10 years and now schedule appointments for a mobile grooming business. Being so I know what the “slow seasons” are; I just feel like this one is really dragging out. We are pretty much relying on last second same day clients even if the drive to them is not ideal...

    oMg SHE’S so uGLy!! [rant]

Wrong. Dog was a solid pelt, a 10strip nose to toes was the safest and only option, and the fur will grow back. I can’t stand it when clients who are 100% at fault for the matting say this about their dog. Even worse when they say it to or around their dog. We all know it’s not what they wanted...
