A new thing we are trying with our rescue is "Working Breed Wednesday" We share stories/comments and the Dogs 101 video on a breed we currently have up for adoption!

We feature a working dog breed every Wednesday to bring awareness to the many jobs dogs were bred for!

Did you know that Great Danes were bred to hunt & kill boars? Or that Pomeranians are descendants of stubborn sled dogs?

In order to understand your dog and train it properly you must first understand its inherent doggy traits. You can do this by researching their breed, breed crosses and even who they may have descended from-- this will help you to fully understand what you are adopting!

By posting these we are hoping to encourage prospective homes into researching the breeds they are looking into adopting or purchasing. We are hoping to give a little more thought into the process of choosing a new family member-- to push people to research the needs of their breeds so that they can be a good home for their dog!

This week: Australian Cattle Dog.

As part of the post we are hoping that owners or people familiar with the breed will share their tales as the breeds we are featuring each Wednesday can be found in one of our adoptable pets! This will help our prospective applicants learn about what traits they should anticipate and be preparing for!

Come check it out-- share your thoughts/stories/pictures and maybe pass this idea around!

Happy tails!
