Thyro Tabs question

My dog is 90 lbs and was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. My vet has him on 0.8 mg twice a day. Reading the paperwork that came with the meds, it seems like it’s too much. Shouldn’t it be 0.8 mg once a day or 0.4 mg am & pm?

Did I read the dosage wrong?

@sirhash While levothyroxine is dosed by weight to an extent, it’s also based on bloodwork and your dog’s clinical signs. Some are dosed once daily, some twice. Usually twice. So unfortunately only your vet can answer this question for you.

@blondemom93 I appreciate your reply. He gets anxious and starts panting a lot after taking his meds. Hopefully the vet calls me back today.

@sirhash You can call a pharmacy. Sometimes they will give advice if the vet is closed.
