Not sure if our puppy's portions are too big or if she just gets bored but we've been feeding the same food she got from at the breeder for 3 weeks now and she has never finished her portion. She is supposed to be eating 1.25-2 cups per day per the bag and given her age and weight (11 weeks,~8lbs) (Kirkland signature nature's domain chicken and pea puppy) but will eat probably closer to 0.75 cups per day total spread out over 3 meals.
She will always eat a ton at the beginning but then stop after 5 min with ~50% left over. We've tried wetting it, putting in different toys (kong, puzzle ball, wrapped up in towel), mixing in some crumbled treats, but not much works. If we hand feed after during training she'll eat a bit more but then will also stop. Not sure if the portion size is too big and she's getting full or if she's getting bored. She will always take treats though, and we never feed treats before meal time (except for her post-nap-pre-meal-potty). She does seem to be gaining weight at a pretty healthy rate (8 weeks-4.8 lbs; 11 weeks-8 lbs).
