Puppy constipation

I have 5 day old puppies that really aren’t pooping. I’m stimulating their rear ends since mom won’t do it. I read they should be pooping every to every other feeding. I’m getting 1 poop a day out of them. Since you all have a lot of experience in the puppy department I thought I’d ask if anyone has any advice for this situation

@lovinjesus You need a vet, not someone on Reddit. And you need one asap.

if the bitch isn't interacting much with her puppies, you risk losing them all.

@davecb Took them to the vet. They said all is good just keep doing what I’m doing and add some stomach massage to get things going

@lovinjesus Are you sure the dam is not doing so? Are they fussy? If fussy, I would reach out to your vet. If content and gaining weight, I might add a few drop mineral oil to the cotton balls I am using to stimulate. Your dam may be doing cleaning when you are not watching.

@smilerman312 Positive the dam is not doing it, I even set up a cam. They’re aren’t fussy at all thankfully. I’ve never heard of the mineral oil thing I’ll try that thank you!!

@lovinjesus Are they gaining weight appropriately? Fewer poops could be a sign that they aren't eating enough

@paska They’ll be 1 week old tomorrow and everyone will be double their birth weight

@lovinjesus Are you supplementing them as well? Sometimes you need to add more water to the mix to help them digest it better.
