I bought my male 14 week old Italian Greyhound puppy a fluffy snuggle bed. He started to bite and hump the bed the second I put it on the floor. To get him chill on the bed, I ask him to lie down on it while I prepare his food, and reward him if he behaves well. He would lie on the bed calmly until I redirect him to somewhere else and take the bed away because he would bite and hump again the next time he sees it. I’ve been doing this for 3 weeks, 3 times a day and still, not much improvement.
Today, I tried to do the same training with some low value treat (carrots) and there were humping and biting none stop. This is a sign that my training isn’t working I think? He has two other beds which look like this He bit them at first but never hump. I did the same training and the biting stopped in 1-2 weeks.
It was hilarious at the beginning but purely annoying and frustrating now. What’s wrong with the bed and what’s wrong with my pup? What am I doing wrong?
