New diet advice

Hey y’all! I am v new to Reddit, but thought coming here would help. I’m looking to change both of my cattle dogs (1 and 3 year old males, 35 and 50 lbs) from Fromm’s kibble to a more “natural” diet. I’m wondering for those who do this: is it more cost effective (kibble is $45 a bag every two weeks) and what portions/ingredients do y’all use?

Thank you for any advice at all! And yes I do plan on slowly integrating it with their kibble.

@louisew I slow cook a whole chicken all cut up with peas, carrots and a sweet potato. Cook it on low for about 6 hours and just remove the bones real well leaving all the cartilege, etc in the mix. Add a cup of cooked barley if you want to half the chicken mix and freeze the other half. Then make more barley when you thaw the 2nd half next week.

Then I just mix a couple tablespoons of that per cup of kibble. My bag of kibble lasts me a month now and I make the wet food about every 2 weeks.
