Need a new food brand

I used to feed natural balance and since they reformulated it doesn’t work for us anymore.

My dog is allergic to most proteins and is VERY allergic to peas, kelp, and sweet potato which seem to be in everything

What foods are there that the protein is either duck or white fish with white potato

Would it just be easier to go raw and make my own food?

@murphman Raw diets are incredibly dangerous and particularly so for dogs with immune mediated illnesses like allergies.

While cooked homemade diets are possible to do safely, I wouldn’t characterize that as easy by any stretch. You would need to consult a board certified veterinary nutritionist to do that safely.

How did you diagnose these allergies?

The only way to ensure a commercial diet is free from the listed ingredients is to go with a prescription option since ALL retail diets risk cross contamination. A hydrolized diet is probably your best bet though Royal Canin and hills have non-hydrolized novel protein rx options.

@sevilodorf We had the spectrum blood allergy test done when he was 2 or 3, he’s 11 now. I know allergy tests aren’t super accurate for food allergies but for the most part it has been pretty good. He was great on the natural balance limited ingredient duck and potato for years. I hate that they decided to reformulate.

As for the raw diet I would really only go with the freeze dried or air dried foods as my cats are on it and love it and are doing great.

Thanks for the advice!

Edit: spelling
