Natures Recipe botched batch. Customer service wants me to send them a cup of my batch for testing

We have always fed our six year old, 60lb pit bull / husky / Australian shepherd mix the natures recipe salmon & sweet potato mix. He has a lot of allergies that make him super itchy and his itchiness was lessened by going grain free.

So, for six years this dog has had the same food. The batch we recently got looked completely different (the kibble pieces were smaller and much darker). I emailed them about it and basically they told me “it’s fine” with no follow up.

Then I found a piece of plastic embedded in one of the pieces of kibble and emailed them again (sent photos of the plastic embedded). Now they’re asking me to send them a cup of the food for testing in the mail. They said they’d pay for shipping but am I crazy for thinking that’s way too much work for 0 reward? Couldn’t they just give me a coupon or something? Especially as a loyal customer. Damn.
