My 1 and 1/2 year old Maltese is eating poop and we don’t know why!

She has this problem about a year ago and we tried basically everything to stop it, from feeding her pineapple, to using ingestable powders, to changing her food and nothing stopped her. Then all of a sudden, for no reason, she stopped eating her poop. She’s recently started up again, and it’s even worse than before, so much so that when she’s going out into the backyard, her entire goal is to eat poop. When she’s brought back inside, her older brother will finish off what she was eating. Any suggestions?

pick up/ remove poop immediately

Or

Use a cage muzzle.

@live2blikejc A lot of dogs do this it's not a big problem,could be lacking protein in their diet.

@live2blikejc You could be right, none the less it's not a major worry and the dog is still only a baby.

Vet said she needed more protein and probiotics

@live2blikejc My dog eats his poop also. It seems not as urgent a need when I give him plenty of probiotics.
