*In need of advice* Vizsla Mix, 10 y.o, Large Cell Lymphoma/Splenectomy?

My dog has tumors throughout (filled & covered) on and in his spleen.

Other than the physical pain of his spleen inflamation he is doing wonderfully, from appetite, energy & mood. The only recommendation from his vet was "chemotherapy and radiation"

When I asked about removing his spleen since there's no ABSOLUTE need for it, to at least resolve some of his pain, I was told he wouldn't survive it and immediately kept going on with the rehearsed speech about chemotherapy.

Has anybody here had a splenectomy done on their dog who had cancer? If so, how did things go after? Did they survive it? How did they do?

I've looked into the Ketogenic raw dog diet, after watching the 6 hour "Dog Cancer" Series.

He's doing great on that.

I've looked into physical therapy and even hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy for him.

Any sort of advice would be great. Thank you.

@cogmom Why would you not want to do the treatment the vet recommends? If the spleen is removed the cancer will still be in the lymph nodes and will probably spread rapidly. Removing the spleen would not cure the dog.
