Food allergy testing

I think my dog (a 1.5 y/o rescue I adopted in July) might have a food allergy and I’m hoping to find out experiences with allergy testing kits. I’m aware my vet charges about $300 for a food allergy test, but I’ve also seen some test kits online that are more affordable. Does anyone have any suggestions for reliable kits that I could buy and do myself?
