Hey, so I have a 3 year old cockaleir (cocker spaniel x King Charles cavaleirl) and she needs pretty much daily brushing to avoid matting. Ive found if I brush her for more than 10 ish minutes I get red bumps on my forearms. I’m guessing it is an allergy thing but wanted to double check, maybe a hygiene thing? She’s got some matting around her chest that is a pain to get to because she’s hyper so I can’t afford not to brush her so what do I do?

@jerushac Yeah its a minor allergic reaction. If your breathing is not effected you could just deal with it. Im slightly allergic to my dog too but I love him and if my allergies are particularly bad I just take a pill.
I make sure to vacuum and wash my hands after I spend time petting him or grooming. You could wear long-sleeves and try not to use your hands too much, just use the brush and don't rub the dander into your skin.
