With saving and planning, myself, and some friends are able to take a 14 day trip overseas. I currently have a 14-year-old cat, a 13-year-old dog. They will be fine with the sitter. My lab border collie mix will be nine months at the time of my trip. She sleeps through the night, she loves her crate.

What pet sitting expectation should I have? I work as a pet sitter myself, but I normally don’t deal with puppies, and she is my first actual puppy. Should I try to board her? My trip isn’t until September, so I have time, I’m just anxious and want a game plan.

@jdi12 I personally prefer to board if you’re aware of a spot that allows them to run around all day. Gives them an excuse for socialization and to wear themselves out while you’re gone!

@trollface Yes, this! They get a consistent routine, there’s no risk of someone accidentally leaving the front door open, etc.

Our puppies always go to boarding facilities when we’re away.

The downside is that it can be expensive. It usually adds almost $1000 to our vacation plans between the two of them.
