1,5 yr Maltese doesn’t eat or drink

My doggie doesn’t eat or drink for 2 days already. Along with diarrhea and vomiting. He had a dental surgery a week ago so vet thinks it may be caused by pain killer they prescribed (rimadyl).

They prescribed him now sucralfate, but every time I give it to him, he just throws up.

He is very lethargic and it makes me worried…

Should I try another vet? Or should I try force feeding?

UPDATE:

New vet gave him liquids, took some blood prescriped and anti nausea medication. He still doesn’t eat though.. will hear more tomorrow

@edwinmorales Definitely get another vet.

Try to bribe him into drinking in the meantime, even if he throws up some is better than none. Low sodium, watered down chicken brother usually does the job. Ask your new vet about getting a subcutaneous water pocket as soon as you’re in to get his hydration back up.

@tblaes I do give him water through the syringe, but didn’t think about the broth! Thank you!

@edwinmorales you can get meat flavored baby foods that have much less sodium, just add water and mix until drinkable consistency.

@edwinmorales I would try another vet as soon as possible, that’s a long time for a dog to not have drank anything.
