Proper use of a prong collar

@noahsk I can't help you much there. I only had to use one for a short period of time on a sensitive but pushy dog. It's good to start with what horse people call a "soft but confident (strong/steady) hand" - using only as much pressure as is needed on a correction, loose leash until the...

How do u train a puppy to be calm in public places

@mfld I'm sorry people are being rather coarse. And thank you for wanting to train your dog to be good in public. That's important no matter what role your animal plays. Additional rights may depend on what state you're in. For instance in California you have the right to bring your ESA dog to...

Proper use of a prong collar

@noahsk A harness will encourage pulling unless you clip the leash to the front chest ring. Doing so forces the dog off balance when he pulls. A prong is probably a better choice, but when you do use a harness try front clipping.

    R+ Vs. Balanced training

@daniom Not in my area. A good percentage of the advertising trainers here espouse PP. They are also the same ones who have recommended euthanasia for a friend's aggressive Jack Russel. I called about 30 trainers within 150 miles or so for her and interviewed them over the phone. There were only...

My Dog Is Really Bad w/ Boyfriends 7yo Son. HELP!

@katlyngiberson What is a good trainer? Hiring a trainer who gets results and a consistent change in that behavior with your particular dog will help. Look for trainers who have had experience with aggression. I think you're right. Eventually, if the dog is allowed to continue in this behavior...

    Warning grumble or “talking” grumble?

@wayofthepromise Dog looks confused as to why your husband is being consoling rather than playing. IDK, that's all I can see here.

    Warning grumble or “talking” grumble?

@wayofthepromise Well, it's important to be careful around a dog that has been aggressive in the past. That said, no one has any idea here because we can't see it. We can't read the body language. Also, that said, I've played rough with my formerly seriously aggressive dog and other dogs that I...
