    Update!

@janieve The thing that really bothers me about this whole line of conversation is everyone seems to assume that when you use aversives, it’s the only thing you’re doing. Like you’ve escalated to an aversive tool and ditched all of the positive reinforcement since it “didn’t work”. That’s so...

@christopherb Doubtful. All mentions of this sub are removed on r/dogtraining. Those mods don’t exist in the same reality that reactive dog owners do.

Our guidance to House Visitors with our reactive dog. Yes we ask them to read before they come in

@romans82 This is fantastic that you are willing to go to such great lengths for your dog. Truly above and beyond! I also strongly believe that it’s ok to not do any of this. I have a stranger reactive dog who displays aggression towards humans. Our protocol when people come over is that she...

How do you know when/if it is time for BE?

@mellowesile Sorry this happened to you. I really don’t think this dog should be allowed on the couch at all. It might even be best to keep her in a separate room and/or crated if you have guests over. Euthanasia seems like an extreme step but you now have some perspective about how dangerous...

CPDT-KA here. Wanted to sum up what goes into R+ training with a reactive dog

@petrasophie This is a great video! Thanks for sharing. I agree that a lot of advice I see here inaccurate unfortunately. I can see in the video that your timing is excellent and you are using a whole toolbox of R+ strategies, not just one.
