    Neighbors’ dog attacked me

@finlandia In addition the sooner OP reports it the better chance the dog has. If they wait and don't adress this behavior it's just going to get worse. But with a bite on record they will be highly motivated to adress the issue and put safety measures into effect. This will be beneficial to...

Want my dog healthy should she be taking vitamins?

@bluescityleon Yeah I'm not a fan. Always talk to your vet before making diet changes, but my dogs have been on Purina pro plan, hills and royal canin at various times and have done well on them. Purina and hills have a great sensitive skin and coat formula that is nice if your pup has any skin...

    Is BE the only option?

@phyllis17 I would get a good trainer and a vetrinary behaviorist, some vets behaviorists do zoom consults. As for the trainer local is better if you can, r/dogtraining has a really good section on how to find a good trainer. Do not go to a trainer that uses adversice methods because it could...

Want my dog healthy should she be taking vitamins?

@heyynnie It's no problem. The r/dogs sub has a wonderful feeding guide with lots of great info. I used to have my dogs on orijen until our dog developed an unrelated heart condition and the cardiologist told us to switch all of my dogs food. One is on a RX royal canin diet and the other two are...

Want my dog healthy should she be taking vitamins?

@heyynnie Everything here is great exept for the orijen dog food. It has been linked to DCM (a dangerous heart condition) and is not backed by scientific studies and teams of nutrition professionals. Only the brands that meet WSAVA criteria do that so you can be sure the food is nutritionally sound.

Want my dog healthy should she be taking vitamins?

@crs_7 Yeah, most of the marketed supplements are pretty trash. There are a few like glucosamine/controiten, one particular brand of calming chews, some dental additives and glandex that have some data to back it. Personally I only have my dogs on the glycoflex supplements because my old guy...

Want my dog healthy should she be taking vitamins?

@bluescityleon Dog supplements are unregulated and some can be dangerous. I only ever give ones recommended by my vet. Also you dont need to because if you are feeding a wsava compliant food she has all the nutrients she needs. Also do be sure that any treats dont make up more than 10% of her...

Dog bit 2 people. What do I do?

@hosee Training is not going well, unfortunately e collars can increase agression so good trainers don't really use them. If you want to try and keep him you need to commit 100% to safe managing techniques. You also need a good trainer and a board certified veterinary behaviorist (not some...

What happens if you mix a breed with fur and a breed with hair?

@ectolite Yeah they often come with a lot of health and behavioral issues. It's also that they are often from uneducated owners. They are expecting a nice calm dog but get a dog on redbull and they just can't handle it.

What happens if you mix a breed with fur and a breed with hair?

@thankfullness I mean hypoallergenic is a thing, it just means less allergenic for some people and people that have certain dog allergies may do better with a dog with a hair coat. People misunderstand that it means that all people with dog allergies will not react which is obviously not true.

What happens if you mix a breed with fur and a breed with hair?

@jag Yes but for purebred dogs from a breeder that's pretty strict about breed standards it's pretty rare. Usually it's more to do with what environmental triggers the dog may be exposing you to (pollen, grass etc) but there is also apparently an allergy to something that only unneutered male...

What happens if you mix a breed with fur and a breed with hair?

@crs_7 The x breed personality and slightly more hypoallergenic actually aren't really pros to doodles. They are just so unpredictable that neither is a guarantee. I more often see doodles that are neurotic messes and have a very high energy level. Also the coat is rarely hypoallergenic at all...
