Dog suddenly is protective of me. Is that common or "aggression."

@stockroomman I was really surprised the first time I saw a dog guarding a sofa - I thought that resource guarding was toys and food. There’s no way you could have done anything different during that incident because you didn’t know the context. It’s hard to work out what triggers some dogs...

Dog suddenly is protective of me. Is that common or "aggression."

@stockroomman Sounds like resource guarding to me and it sounds like he’s been doing it in various forms all along. I think it has more to do with having to compete for resources in the past than it does with your pregnancy. I don’t normally get serious like this, but I would urge you to find...

Friend Move in with 8 mo Boxer to my house with 3 dogs 5 yr, 7 yr, 9 yr

@christiananon Trixi has been allowed way too much freedom for her age. I start puppies out with limited freedom within the house, so I can regulate house training and other undesirable behaviours like chewing. I use a pen during the day and a crate at night. Puppies should be sleeping 20...

    Alternatives to a slicker brush?

@thegiant I’m a trainer: the idea with the e collar is that when you recall the dog, you press and hold the button on the e collar remote until the dog returns. Basically, the only way that the dog can stop the feeling of the e collar is to return to their owner, so that becomes the behaviour...
