My GSD is good, then he is not

@mjr88 I'm raising a 9 mo puppy that is running into problems with reactivity being a frustrated greeter. This is the first time I'm hearing about this trigger stack thing and makes all sense now. Some days I swear it seems as if we never did any training at all, despite the hard, dilligent work...

UPDATE: My poor hands 😭 - it DID get better

@his_delight Idk why but I feel blessed I guess? My almost 4mo mixed race (probably VERY mixed, it's a rescue) only bites or nips, and very lightly, if I try to pet him during his overtired state. He doesn't randomly go for ankles or hands and only chews on a specific chair in his room. Maybe...

    Puppy raising x 9-5

@eront Honestly for me that's a much bigger factor... and needs to be gauged on a case to case and breed basis. In my case, I've been shaping the independent behavior from day 3 onwards, even that being my vacation period where I was home all the time for a month. He really doesn't have issues...

    Puppy raising x 9-5

@eront What we usually do where I live is resourcing to dog toilets (several different ways) because crate training is highly unheard of. People with tiny dogs just compromise with that for the rest of their lives, but people with bigger dogs may transition to outside, or the more commonly...

    Puppy raising x 9-5

@snowgirl14 Huge agree. Of course, in the case of crate, is pretty much obvious that leaving a puppy for +5h is abuse... I feel that's probably why crating is so alien here in Brazil. Probably people who do is just a tiny minority trying to emulate American ways - and understandable, since...

    Puppy raising x 9-5

@lovefaithhopeinjesus I wonder if almost everyone around reddit dog/puppy subs is in a WFH situation, or resourceful enough to hire sitters/daycare for work days, because I've googled and whenever there's the remote question about how to leave a dog for 8h a day is met with very negative and...

Do we have a perfect puppy?

@jesussaves111 My 4mo mix breed is also something like that. He does have his handful of things, but a far far cry from the horror stories I read around this sub. I just hope that this isn't a prelude to a 180º turn during his adolescence!
