Stop coddling your dog! You're the problem, not them!!

@gellmannamnesia I agree with you that people need to stop coddling their dogs, but also groomers need to stop coddling batshit crazy clients and set some boundaries LOL.

How do I know my dog isn’t a little shit during grooming?

@burialchoice Cavs are usually very good for grooming except for wanting to sit the whole time lol. The biggest issue I've ever had with a cav in my 15 years of grooming was with my own personal cav and that was that she would bark at any other humans she saw during her groom because she wanted...

[rant] You know who you are

@chris_1989 I cancel after 15 minutes and they get rescheduled to whenever I have time, which isn’t going to be soon. I make exceptions for some of my elderly people because I don’t want them to get into an accident. Canceling after 15 minutes straightened everyone out real quick. I have no...

New dog bather/dryer at a local family-owned grooming business. It’s my second week and I’d love some advice!

@sentot You should look into getting Happy Hoodies to help dry the ears. It's a terry cloth sleeve that goes over the ears and head. If you brush the ears out right after the bath, then put the hoodie on while you are drying the body. By the time you get to the head they will be mostly dry...

Looking for tips from other groomers who have dealt with Lagottos and their crazy owners…

@porthospathos Every lagotto I’ve ever groomed has had owners that were in cahoots with an anti groomer breeder. They are all bonkers. I won’t take them as clients anymore. I’d rather groom doodles all day.

🐾 Reasons NOT to be a Dog Groomer 🐾

@seventytimes7 Hi, luckily she actually knows dog body language very well already. We worked together at a doggy daycare and she was taught by a behaviorist. I think that she maybe knows a little too much and she reads too much into little things and then gets nervous. Like if a dog is standing...

    Storytime!

@ch4dd There are way too many people looking for groomers right now to put up with this crap. I used to bend over backwards for people but no more. I'm happy you stood your ground.

🐾 Reasons NOT to be a Dog Groomer 🐾

@jcc19240 Hi! Do you mind if I ask how comfortable are you handling dogs, doing nail trims, etc at four months in? Do you need someone to help hold a lot of dogs for nails? I’m just curious how other new bathers are. I have a new bather and she is doing an amazing job at prepping my dogs coats...

What was the best/worst quote you heard from a client when they were told you’re booked this holiday season?

@tini91 This is when I feel extremely grateful to the receptionists that handle all of this drama for me and I hide behind them like a little wimp lol.

Need some advice on difficult dogs!

@weepingsinner7 Hi! I am curious...did you use regular corded clippers for the legs? I have found that lots of dogs that will not tolerate my Andis Excel clippers on their legs do much better with a cordless Bravura clipper because it is quieter. I have a set of stainless steel comb attachments...

Difficult customer that always come back for regroom

@whothat If you are allowed to fire clients I would turn it around on her and say something like “I’m sorry I won’t be grooming Scruffy anymore, I am unfortunately not the right groomer for you. You need someone better than me, possibly someone who grooms show dogs because my work is not up to...

    stay or go?

@genuinelyseeking I would stay put if I were in that situation. Mixing friendships with work can sometimes be a little tricky.
