How to know if it's too much or too little exercise (newly adopted dog)

@minnie965 Yeah, my 15 years of experience doesn't mean too much, especially with new dog owners.

How to know if it's too much or too little exercise (newly adopted dog)

@chosenbeforetime Just some advice as a dog owner and many years of group experience. My dogs are terrible on leashes around other dogs. They will be at the end of their leashes barking and generally showing bad behavior (yes I know that is terrible, and I should have worked with them sooner)...

How to know if it's too much or too little exercise (newly adopted dog)

@chosenbeforetime Have you looked into basic training classes for you both? Petsmart offers some, but those are usually basic training, which your dog needs obviously. But you have bigger questions in raising an older dog with a little bit of trust issues. I would seek a more experienced...

Concerns about my pups coat after a grooming fiasco

@pixelneko I know its def not what you wanted. And on top of that, it was totally unnecessary. But she will grow her hair back. So just let it grow out. YouTube some good at home care in the meantime. She will be ok. And dont make her feel ugly in the mean time. Twll her how cute and silly she...

PSA to men who ask us groomers if they can get a haircut too, please stop. It’s creepy

@bonitadan I work at a vet clinic that is majority female. I'm a quiet person in the workplace and a bit shy, especially when i started 5 years ago. I keep to my little hidey hole, but when I have to do a dog that needs anesthesia to groom I'm obviously subjected to be in the clinic. I was...

Concerns about my pups coat after a grooming fiasco

@pixelneko Find a new groomer. Please do mention this ti your last groomer and request a refund Never use the word "shave" for your future groom. If you want some pro advice say I was a sanitary trim, and a shape up around the chest and legs. Definitely clean up the feet, and make Dakota look...

    Extreme excess shredding

@kawaiichristi I'm about to say this because I am a gro ok me who went to a grooming convention where there was a veterinarian there who said drs in usa dont get but one semester of skin dermatology schooling. I could be wrong, but this was a national event. Thus comment is completely right...

Concerns about my pups coat after a grooming fiasco

@pixelneko How old is Dakota? 1st of all, they fucked up. They DEFINITELY SHAVED your dog. I have to argue against shaving. I would not do this. It opens your pets skin up to infection, removes a vital layer (guard hairs) and takes a bit to grow back.

    A second dog?

@rightway2truth Now should be an ok time! Introduce them outside of the house, a park or something. Then bring them home together!

Concerns about my pups coat after a grooming fiasco

@travelgal8605 Theres hardly any reason to shave a dog that close unless total matting. And this type of coat doesn't get that matted without a tin of neglect. This looks like ignorance and laziness. The ONLY time I've done I'll advised is when a once every 2 year pyr refused to pay the cost...

Adopting a dog need some advice

@eternalvictory00 Depending on your area they might pick up, or your dog Walker might transport. It's a good way for your dog to get mental and physical exercise and might be cheaper, I'm not knocking dog walkers, just a young dog might enjoy a daycare setting once or twice a week

Does “popping” or “cracking” my dog’s joints help ease the pressure on them?

@imagebeastmarkbeast Interesting question and interesting answer. Thank you

Golden Retriever puppy with extreme dandruff

@yole Environmental allergens and underlying health issues can cause skin problems as well. How do her ears look? The problem is that most veterinarians dont have a lot of dermatological training. So it's often hard to find the allergens. Shampoos and conditioners only treat the skin. And...

Concerns about my pups coat after a grooming fiasco

@imagebeastmarkbeast I would definitely be requesting a refund. This is insane. I do shave down double coats... after I ask them 5 times and explain the risk at least 2 times at initial meeting

King Komb Retractable 3 Blade Brush

@chance7 As a dog groomer, I would day get this. It looks like youd love it and it looks versatile But you (and most other dog owners) will stil need a slicker brush with angled metal tines, and a metal greyhound comb. You have dogs that dont necessarily need to visit the groomer if you can run...

Advice needed for 15 months old female Golden Retriever with Hip Dysplasia

@kingjamesversionbibleonly There are lots of joint health supplements on the market, just do some research. I think low impact stuff like swimming could be good for her. Golden retrievers are notorious for bad dysplasia, so it's good you're getting on top of it sooner. Also you might want to...

@matt11confused Also, maybe as on r/doggroomers or r/doggrooming lots of petsmart groomers in those subs who would be familiar with the contract
