I cannot believe the condition she was in

@gary987 Not to downplay anything because I have no idea what the dog actually looked like, but it's very common and almost expected for any hair left around the base of the tail, legs, and tummy to be matted after giving birth and weaning puppies. It's why most long-haired dogs end up being...

Is a #10 shave for convenience ok?

@baotoan Me, doing weekly prep on a standard poodle in show coat after a whole ass week of poodles. Remind me why I wanted a standard poodle when I already specialize in poodles and 90% of my clientele are goddamn poodles? 🙃🙃🙃😭😭😭 Jokes, of course, I love my baby more than anything in the world...

    How to get a groomer…

@worshiplady3 I closed my books the day I said that I recommend that new puppies come in at least every 4 weeks, but couldn't find a spot for them until 8 weeks later. It's stressful trying to accommodate everyone. Half the time, if someone cancels, I just say "oh thank God, a break" and don't...

What question from owners makes you short-circuit at it’s stupidity?

@trutheverlasting I've had someone tell me I didn't cut the nails because the nails were still there. We don't declaw them, just trim them.

it took me all day to do 3 dogs…

@jaikyuveh Hun, I've been doing this for ten years and regularly have days that I only groom 3-4 dogs. Granted, it's usually doodles or poodles, but still. Don't let people tell you how to work, just put out good grooms, and you'll have happy returning customers.

Shampoo Rec please! Weekly baths on a large dog

@rlneub Skout's honor has some great probiotic shampoo and conditioner that really help with sensitive and itchy skin. This would be a good option for you because it helps maintain the good vitamins and oils in the dogs coat so you're not just stripping the essentials out all the time.

Dog Groomers: write an instant nightmare in 5 words or less

@legionness "The last groomer hurt him." Either the dog is terrified because he was actually hurt or mom is psycho. It's one or the other.

Grooming my own dogs…. Spoiler: groomers deserve 1000x what they are paid

@theorange4 I get them on the soft, creased areas of my body like elbow creases, the back of my neck, and underside and clevage of my breasts. Everywhere else seems fine.

What question from owners makes you short-circuit at it’s stupidity?

@aimeelynn17 Some will and some won't. As far as I know titer tests are not always accurate and I require all dogs that I work on to be currently vaccinated or have a vets note that they cannot have the vaccine for health reasons. I'm sure corporate is the same. Some private salons do not even...

Grooming my own dogs…. Spoiler: groomers deserve 1000x what they are paid

@motherhen Hair is so invasive. I have a few hair splinters that I can see underneath my nails, imbedded in the nail bed. No idea how they got so deep in there.

My beautiful friends, how do you feel about 5 in 1's?

@annlei I love my bravura but I only use it on clean (washed) feet, sani's, and faces - otherwise the blade dulls faster than you can finish the dog. It is a game changer for clean feet/faces though, I hate using my regular clippers for those now.

    AITA Grooming Edition?

@heavenward7 We had someone call today a week after the groom to complain and ask for a refund and a hypothetical vet bill to be paid (they haven't gone to the vet and are just thinking about it) and I thought a week was pushing it. 3 weeks is quite a time to wait to go to the vet and contact...

    1099 Groomer?

@avafish I am a legal 1099 IC, and what you are explaining is illegal. A lot of salons do this to try to weasel their way out of paying employee taxes, sick time, and proper business insurance. A true IC is their own business working under the same roof (think of a groomer that has their own...
