Getting hives from a dog who’s just given birth…?

@heblessedinsideme I had one litter I had a reaction to. It went away after the first few days. Never happened since. It was the weirdest thing.

Is this a rude question to ask a breeder?

@skinnypath If you buy an item from the store and the price goes down later, do you go back and ask for a refund? If you are happy with the breeder, and happy with the price you are paying (what she is asking), then just buy the puppy and don't worry about what other puppies are going for.

    Advice on a mixed breed

@devarim64 I'm going to be very blunt here. Why does she need puppies? She's just a crossbred dog, she does not adhere to any breed standard, and she has no papers. She may be a lovely dog for you, but she has nothing to offer in the gene pool and is just a crossbred dog of unknown origins...

Hi! I’m hoping to get some judgement-free assistance regarding getting a puppy from a breeder for the first time

@chpjoe That seems like an awful lot to me. I breed a rare breed and just purchased a puppy from an American breeder for $3500 to be imported to me. That's fairly standard purchase price for a reputable breeder in my breed in the US who shows/trials/health tests/etc.

Interested in co-ownership in the future

@shawnmari Yes, I'd definitely be more willing to discuss co-ownership with someone who had already shown commitment to participating in dog sports.

How long to wait between litters?

@thelonemusician28 Some bitches cycle every six months, some nine, some twelve, and everywhere in between. My bitches generally are in the 8-9 month range, and being sporting dogs, are very fit and a breed that usually whelps naturally. My girls are generally back to fit by the time the pups...

How long to wait between litters?

@thelonemusician28 I genuinely concerns me that you are talking in blanket terms breeding and it sounds like you are planning on breeding in large scale. You cannot put an arbitrary age on breeding and then subsequent litters. Reputable breeders look at their animals and use their knowledge...

What happens to the dogs that you don't breed?

@revstockton I have a waiting list of over 100 families. Any of them would jump at the chance of a puppy for a pet.

    I’m kinda stuck here

@nadinepeony For starters, there is no such thing as a 'golden lab'. There are Golden Retrievers and there are Labrador Retrievers (which come in yellow, chocolate or black).

    Do you notice any faults?

@teecee Absolutely impossible to tell from this photo. Have they been shown and compared against others of their breed?
