@truthseekerinchrist I've not seen the breeds I mentioned need more than th hour and half excercise they mentioned being able to give. Especially since they will also have a yard. Compared to a border collie or a German Shepard or a sight hound breed they are not high energy.

3 Month Old Golden Retriever - Healthy Paws vs Pets Best

@loveourlife I'm not sure for either specifically but from when I researched for my own the companies that covered it could Ted it toward the deductible and when it wasn't covered it didn't count.

3 Month Old Golden Retriever - Healthy Paws vs Pets Best

@loveourlife Personally I'd call or email some vets and see what the exam fees for an emergency and vet visit are. In my area thw most expensive emergency exam is $175 and most other exams are $50-$70 so I'd feel like there was a good chance that the deductible difference would make it worth not...

@wifeandmother That's not too bad. Most non high energy breeds would be fine with that care. I would reccomend for a first dog to look into getting a dog at least 6 months and preferably a year as training a puppy is a ton of work. If you like golden retrievers look for breed specific rescues in...

@wifeandmother How long of a commute do you have? Can you afford a dog walker or doggy daycare? How much excercise can you provide for your dog? (Can include time with dog walker) How big is your living space? Do you have a yard? How much time can you spend grooming your dog? Can you...

Advice on Newfoundland breeding, and general ethics

@jessicacharlie There is a ton of great info that you have already been given. I will add as a way to get your toes wet into dog showing you could register your current dog UKC performance or AKC PAL(after neutering). It wouldn't be conformation shows but you could do rally or obedience or...

Should I be concerned about my 8.5 week old pug puppy?

@james2000 I worry a lot and personally would bring him in to get checked since he is also drinking less water. Puppies often have days they eat less but not eating at all especially for more than 2 meals would worry me. You could try offering just the wet food to see if he will eat that. Boiled...

Should I be concerned about my 8.5 week old pug puppy?

@james2000 If he's not eating all I'd take to vet asap as for puppies they can go downhill fast. If he is eating but not as enthusiastic about it you could try adding more of the old kibble to it and see if that helps increase appetite. I'd still make a vet visit but wouldn't be as alarmed...

    Enough is enough

@jackih In general people need to accept and respect that different animals and even people should have different expectations. What one person wants from their dog is may not be what someone else wants. The dog also may never be able to behave that way. Same neighbor who tried to tell me how I...

Will it be okay to bring my puppy to an out-of-town trip (e.g. beach/hiking trail)?

@brave_heart I'd talk to a vet in your area is to see how prevalent parvo is and how concerned you need to be. For me I used my back yard. If I was in an apartment I would probably have gotten a potty patch or other grass based potty area I could put in my house or on the balcony to use. If you...

Will it be okay to bring my puppy to an out-of-town trip (e.g. beach/hiking trail)?

@brave_heart I took my puppy basically everywhere with me for the first 6 weeks, I had him (after that I couldn't easily carry him so he had to wait until fully vaxxed before going out places other than puppy class). I wouldn't do anything to strenuous if you are packing a puppy along, in the...
