PSA to men who ask us groomers if they can get a haircut too, please stop. It’s creepy

@bonitadan Had a dude do this today in a flirty fashion…with his wife standing right next to him. Was awk. Af.

@imagebeastmarkbeast With a proper breeding program, you wouldn’t be crossing two animals who have similar issues in their backgrounds. For example, you have female poodle with a Zz gene. Big Z being healthy heart and little z being a predisposition for cardiomyopathy. You would look for a male...

@imagebeastmarkbeast Mixing an unhealthy dog with a healthy dog will not give you 100% healthy puppies. The best way to avoid health issues is to stop breeding unhealthy animals.

@guptill8 As someone with hair about 5 inches long, this logic evades me. Do they think dog hair is that different than human hair?

@notausername Because people think it looks mean. Done correctly, it is not mean and the grip is distributed evenly over the surface of the skin. Think pulling a single hair vs pulling on a ponytail.

@dwrity90 None taken. Greeder is a better word. Apparently holding the top and bottom of the muzzle with one hand? I feel like that would freak out more dogs. Most dogs don’t seem to like their mouth forcibly shut regardless of breed(s).

@dmscotland I had a similar situation with a Newfiedoodle. Sold to an elderly couple. They couldn’t get him to stop jumping on people. Mrs was knocked down and broke her hip. Dog was rehomed thankfully. Last I saw they had a toy poodle.

@lawforchrist We have a “whoodle breeder” in our area. The stud poodle she uses for her SCWT bitches has known aggressive tendencies. Every one of the pups to come out of her puppy mill has a ridiculous amount of issues.

@edo My last shop would schedule upwards of 4 doodles a day and the shop owner would kiss the doodle owner’s asses. Nothing made me want to open my own place more. Currently working a vet office while I work up some education before opening my own place.

@edo That’s where I am. My receptionists know to not schedule more than one doodle a day.

@edo I’m about to stop accepting doodle clients tbh. Between the poor behavior/no training and the new trend of giant breeds being doodled, my body can’t take the stress.

@edo I swear doodles get the hyperactive gene 90% of the time from both breeds. It seems to be the only consistency across the board.

@rogerramjet My worst bite was from a “double doodle”. I ended up with a sprained wrist from him shaking my arm and a hematoma in my wrist the size of golf ball.

Doodles shouldn’t be groomed until they are at least a year old. If you shave a doodle before 1 year old, their coat will NeVeR bE tHe SaMe. There’s no such thing as puppy coat. Groomers tell people that because it’s easier to shave the dogs than brush them out. Doodles only need groomed once or...
