Biggest fear has been realized. ACD nipped the baby (help)

@motherapple Bruh. These dogs don’t show pain. Just because he didn’t yelp or cry out doesn’t mean he wasn’t in pain. You know that was wrong. If you ACD isn’t getting enough stimulation then you should really consider re-homing him. Because training him is going to take a lot of time, effort...

Biggest fear has been realized. ACD nipped the baby (help)

@motherapple … what do you mean you got physical with the ACD. What did you do to him?? You know, time and time again on this sub we see posts of very similar situations when there’s a new baby involved. Especially when they get to walking/crawling age. Is this dog getting enough stimulation...

blue heeler very fearful and reactive

@lisac Ah see that’s some necessary info. So your next steps would be to contact a vet, get an evaluation done for health issues and start a conversation about anxiety medications. See a behavioral specialist, or an experienced trainer (preferably a trainer who does not use aversive methods, as...

blue heeler very fearful and reactive

@lisac You need to give this pup 3+ weeks to get acclimated. She’s in a new home with new people and she’s in a fear period. Give it time.

    Is this another phase?

@mwood Mine is around the same age and he’s started demand barking and whining/occasional growling recently. Definitely rule out any stressors like pain or injury, and maybe fear if she’s hearing wildlife outside like other dogs or maybe new birds this time of year. My guy just wants attention...

4 Month Old Heeler Puppy Doesn’t Like Walks

@christian_girl_323 Sounds good, she might also be a little fearful of all the new smells and sights when she goes outside. Try sticking to the same route for a few days to see if she gets any more excited about coming out. Maybe familiarity will help.

4 Month Old Heeler Puppy Doesn’t Like Walks

@christian_girl_323 4 months is pretty young. Mine was an avid walker/runner from the beginning, but if yours doesn’t want to walk, then just take her up and down the street (maybe 10 minutes), have her sniff the plants and come home.

I messed up leash training, how do I fix it?

@potterpoole So your response to a post about leash etiquette is to not bother with a leash.. Glad that works for you and your dog but I actually do want mine to understand what being on a leash means. My dog has off-leash time to frolick in the fields and herd random shit, but that’s not what...

Considering getting a blue heeler, but I’m not sure if we’d be a good fit

@aristilis Everyone’s different but I’d say don’t get a dog that’s dependent on you changing your current lifestyle. Make the necessary changes first. If for some reason you guys aren’t able to meet his/her needs for exercise and stimulation, you guys will have a dog that’s ill-suited for your...

    ACD Weight, Food, Advice/thoughts appreciated

@tiswell Yeah he’s a little chubby! Mine is about 57 lbs but he gets 1.25-1.5 cups split into half, and then treats (we try to limit but he’s also in a lot of training currently).

Training help: Dog thinks recall command requires crotch punch

Hoping this serves as a laugh to some of you. But also, please advise on how to proceed. Tl;dr- I say “Come” and my dog thinks the command involves high fiving my thigh/crotch. He did it to my poor dad and their relationship may not recover. ————————————— I started recall training with my...

    I have a 10Y/o Boston terrier

@neveragain1 ACD and him will be fine once you train the ACD not to nip at him, but over the next two years you’re going to have to really dedicate your time and energy to your ACD pup. They require so much more exercise and stimulation compared to a Boston. You’d be doing your Boston a...
