How to tell my dog his toy is not alive?

@jordan1989 I picture it like that Adrian Bliss video where the dinosaur meets the chicken

What to teach my 9 week old puppy next, he learns too fast it’s scary.

@ilooktogod I don’t reward with treats 100% of the time, but only because sometimes I run out of them in my pocket haha. Recall is one I really try to always treat because we camp and hike and I need her recall to be 100%. The others I treat more sporadically once they have got it figured out...

I wanna change my dogs food what brand do u recommend for a picky eater

@knight77 Most of the things being suggested have been associated with diet associated dilated cardiomyopathy (aka sudden heart failure due to enlarged chamber in the heart). I’d go with one of the big 5 brands that meet the highest guidelines for dog food production: purina, Royal Canin...

How to tell my dog his toy is not alive?

@nltray She really really was the most gentle. She actually wouldn’t even push open doors that were left open but didn’t leave enough space for her. Cat used to attack her, even by running up and getting under her legs on the stairs, and she would just stand there wagging her tail waiting for...

What to teach my 9 week old puppy next, he learns too fast it’s scary.

@ilooktogod My pup is 10.5 weeks and also picks up stuff super quick! We have also taught “off/leave it” which is a super important one to learn, and “touch.” This week we are working on “place” and walking attentively on a leash (we practice this inside and in the backyard, she gets a treat...

How to tell my dog his toy is not alive?

@peacefan Hahaha my last dog was like that. If she accidentally made a toy squeak (she never did it on purpose) she’d whine and lick it like she was apologizing. She never got over it but I’d just buy toys without squeakers

FIL got my dogs pork femurs for Christmas but hesitant to give it to them

@tarantula West paw! My golden was the same, but she couldn’t destroy the west paw toys and they are soft enough rubber. I don’t know how they are indestructible, but for her they were

FIL got my dogs pork femurs for Christmas but hesitant to give it to them

@tarantula I believe so. There are soft enough Nylabones though. I don’t think I’ve ever seen benebones in person so I don’t know about them

Hydrolized chicken ok for chicken allergy?

@donetta Yes safe! My last pup had a chicken allergy and was on a hydrolyzed chicken food. The vet explained to me that the hydrolysis process breaks the protein down so much that the body doesn’t recognize it as an allergen.

I don’t want to use puppy pads, but I feel I’m left with no choice…

@pandaman Are you giving her something to do in there like a kong with some peanut butter?

I don’t want to use puppy pads, but I feel I’m left with no choice…

@pandaman Why not crate her while you work? Taking a quick pee break once an hour. She shouldn’t want to soil the crate and you should be able to get some work done. That’s our plan

FIL got my dogs pork femurs for Christmas but hesitant to give it to them

@nursedi71 The rule I’ve heard from all vets I’ve asked is “if you can’t indent it with your fingernail, it’s too hard.” That’s the rule I now follow.

Where my 5 A.M. puppy owners at?

@roboryan Ah I feel that. My pup is usually pretty good but she did that this morning. I think she’s a little confused by the time change, aren’t we all

Where my 5 A.M. puppy owners at?

@roboryan Have you tried taking him out for a potty and then putting him right back in the crate? That seems to work for us. Our pup will generally (it’s not a perfect science haha) settle down again if she is put back in the crate right after a potty break, but won’t if we feed her or play...

Will it be okay to bring my puppy to an out-of-town trip (e.g. beach/hiking trail)?

@brave_heart You maybe could but almost definitely not. Assuming your puppy is 8-10 weeks old when you bring them home, they’ll need to go out to pee every hour or so. On this trip you’ll need there to be somewhere safe to pee every hour. Safe in this context means “where other dogs haven’t...
