Moving out and downsizing, how do you help your Cattle Dog live in a small space?

@toneee If I had 100 acres and my dog was outside alone, he’d be standing at the door, wondering where I am. They can definitely adapt, I think having interaction is most important—especially if that’s what they’re used to. My dog could live in a car as long as he knows I’ll be coming back.

    8 months - 28 lbs

@markinsydney The thing about mixes is that you don’t know what you’re going to get. That’s also true with “designer” mixes, contrary to popular belief.

When did your pup stop eating everything?

@withwonderingawe Puppies chew things they shouldn’t chew, it’s not a “cattle dog” thing. Older dogs, including “cattle dogs” will chew things they shouldn’t chew when they’re bored and unsupervised. Are you buying mixed breed dogs from “breeders” or are you getting them from shelters?

When did your pup stop eating everything?

@withwonderingawe This issue should not be taken lightly. Last week, a person on this sub’s dog died because he ate a diaper that their neighbor threw in the yard.

    Neutering Cattle dogs

@johnmartin Neutering worked wonders on my first male but he was under 1 year old. You may have waited too long.

    I have a 10Y/o Boston terrier

@neveragain1 It would likely be the worst thing you’ve ever done to your Boston Terrier. ACD puppies are usually very difficult to deal with (understatement!). Read the puppy posts on here and then seriously consider NOT turning your older dog’s life upside down.

    want a Australian cattle dog

@soulknight I didn’t ask for your opinion or advice and there’s really nothing to be learned from you🙄 The OP should get a different breed of dog. Period. People should not be getting ACDs because they are cute and popular.

    want a Australian cattle dog

@soulknight My cattle dogs are awake when I’m awake and sleep when I sleep. They are not great dogs for normal working people with normal working hours away from home. There are MANY other breeds that are more suited to being alone all day. Too many people are getting ACDs because of how they look.
