    Help with my girl

@manofthecloth Cranberry juice is sometimes helpful for a dog UTI. Fresh, frozen or juiced is okay to give her. She also needs anti inflammatory medication for the swelling and pain. She can have tramadol if you have any. If not then baby aspirin. A hot compress, hot water bottle or heating...

Overnight crate 8 week old puppy help please

@emmardm Get her used to going into the crate on her own. Always make the crate a happy place. Play fetch into the crate. Put a pig nose to munch on without closing the door. Whatever fun things you can think of.

    Open Feeding?

@mammah These dogs are a mouthy breed. Does he have things to chew on? Sometimes you can give them a disposable plastic water bottle to carry on walks. Free feeding makes fat dogs. You can bring a baggie of frozen blueberries on your walks and toss them onto the ground.

Adding a second ACD to the herd (see what I did there?)

@husseximmo Neutral ground is a dog park. If either gives chase, or runs in fear, there are fences to keep them contained. Neither should have a leash on during introduction, because restraining a dog during introduction can give the sense that there’s danger. Danger to a dog can mean fight...

    14 mo ACD mix- HELP

@lakersfan4life24 I adopted a crazy cat. She was finally out on prozac (fuoxetine). It took a few months to show progress. But what really calmed her down was her very own beagle.

    14 mo ACD mix- HELP

@lakersfan4life24 It sounds like he’s in pain. Dogs get migraines just like people. There’s some tell tale signs. Was he on the medication before the sudden change in behavior? Might be time for something else.

Advice needed, for an adopted Australian Cattle Dog

@church1 The quickest way to gain an ACD’s trust is with treats. Have your partner and your dad each participate in a scheduled treat time. These dogs are super smart and will start to remind them that it’s treat time. Also, throw the ball in the house. They don’t even have to throw it very...

    It’s always the damn squirrels…

@redemption777 You need to reestablish your authority. Learn to say Tramp's name in a low growl. Give the recall command in the same low growling tone. Tramp needs to learn to cool his jets on command.

    bad dog or bad owner

@cph Because you live in a roommate situation, you have equal say in how the house is cleaned, bills are paid and such. Because the dog ripped up a sofa in the house, you also have a right to feel frustrated by their lack of commitment to the dog that did the ripping. It's not just her breed...

My dog just scared off a burglar

@asdfkasdf About 10 years ago a very unlucky burglar tried to squeeze himself through the doggy door, while I was napping on the living room sofa. My super friendly goofball of a cattle dog treated the burglar like a cow. He bit the nose and the heels. I woke up when I heard an unfamiliar voice...

    Advice/encouragement on adopting senior ACD

@trying1tohelp1 From previous adoption experience, she may be a bundle of energy when she meets you, only because she’s super happy that someone noticed her. Or she may cower because of being let down so many times. Ignore both of those. They are not her actual personality. Thank you for...

    Am I Doing Something Wrong?

@z3rn4rius I had put an expensive bark collar on my boy because a neighbor complained about early morning barking. My boy figured out the timing on the shocks to wait in between 3 seconds in between each bark, so that he receives the lowest zap. Training is the only way to correct that.
